Big Horse selections for Friday and Saturday, April 25-26
Friday, April 25, 2014 - by Tim Second

The Big Horse Handicapper provides a weekly handicapping column to the USTA covering races on Friday and Saturday. The USTA has given the Big Horse Handicapper a $100 mythical bankroll each week for wagering.

We are geared up for some big time stake action!  Northfield Park features one on its premier events the $110,000 Courageous Lady for 3-year-old filly pacers on Friday night.  Michigan Sensation Kayla Grace, a perfect 15 for 15 in her career, will take on stake caliber competition as she has been supplemented to the race and will look to keep her perfect record intact.

Yonkers Raceway hosts the $371,400 Blue Chip Matchmaker Final on Saturday, along with the $567,000 George Morton Series Final.  Six million dollar career earning pacer Foiled Again will headline the George Morton Final on Saturday, the 10-year-old drew post 3 for the final and is installed as the 3-5 morning line favorite.

Last weekend, we had no luck at all.  We failed to cash on any of our plays leaving us minus $100 on our mythical bankroll.  Heading into weekend #78 we have wagered $7,621 and have cashed $6,069.

Good luck everyone we are in for some great racing action this weekend!

Yonkers Raceway Race #12
#3 Cocoa Beach (8-5) it has been two months since this mare has seen a post position lower than 6.  She has been facing tougher competition in her recent starts and will take a much more aggressive approach with her inside draw here.  She was a 10-time, $138,000 winner last year and is the one to beat.  #1 Magic Starlight (4-1) figures to get position with her rail draw for Brennan/Burke connections and should be much closer throughout.

The Play:  $4 Trifecta 3/1/4568  a $2 Trifecta 3/4568/1  and a $1 Trifecta Key 3/17 and 3/18  Cost:  $28

Meadowlands Race #8
#5 Woman of Terror (7-2) closed strong last time out when drawing post eight and facing similar.  She made up more than 11 lengths in her mile and has been very close at the finish in each of her last few races.  She will pick up Gingras and draws a great post position as this mare is looking for her first win this year.

The Play:  $4 Exacta 5/1234  Cost:  $16

Meadowlands Race #9
#4 Janie Bay (12-1) has been racing against tougher in her last few races and has been pacing in the 1:52 range.  She was a winner back on March 21 when facing a similar group.  With the right trip she is certainly capable of a victory; she draws a great post and picks up Brett Miller.  She could be a very live longshot in this group.

The Play:  $8 to win and place #4  Cost:  $16

Saturday, April 26

Yonkers Raceway Race #8 **$75,000 Blue Chip Matchmaker Series Consolation**
#3 Ideal in Vegas (4-1) will draw post two in this spot and has plenty of early speed.  She took an earlier leg of the Blue Chip series wire-to-wire winning in a new season’s mark.  She will be gunning out early and has a big chance to take this field all the way once again.

The Play:  $10 Exacta 3-2 and $10 Exacta 3-5  Cost:  $20

Yonkers Raceway Race #9 **$371,400  Blue Chip Matchmaker Series Final**
#4 Yagonnakissmeornot (8-5) has been outstanding and very sharp in all 11 of her races this year.  She has been no worse than second in the previous legs of the series and continues to impress.  She has already won 7 of her 11 starts this year and again looks very tough.  #1 Rocklamation (5-1) and #1A Summertime Lea (5-1) have also been on their game and racing great.  #1 Rocklamation has early speed and just missed last time out.  #1a Summertime Lea unfortunately draws the tough post 8, but she just missed at 75-1 last time.  This field looks very competitive and it should make for a great final!

The Play:  $10 Exacta Box 1-4  Cost:  $20
