The Big Horse Handicapper provides a weekly handicapping column to the USTA covering races on Friday and Saturday. The USTA has given the Big Horse Handicapper a $100 mythical bankroll each week for wagering.
This weekend we will focus our plays at Northfield Park on Friday night and then on Saturday we will head to the Windy City for some Chicagoland action at Balmoral Park. We will be trying our luck in the trifecta pools on Friday night. On Saturday, we will be playing win and place wagers at Balmoral Park, hoping for some prices as they have large fields which usually result in higher win payoffs.
Last weekend we tried many longshot in the selections, and although we were getting value on the plays, unfortunately we did not accomplish the results we wanted and only managed to cash $41 from our $100 mythical bankroll.
Heading into weekend #61 we have wagered $5,952 and have cashed for $4,577.
Good luck everyone!

Northfield Park Race #8
#9 CC Dreamer (4-1) closed well last time out from post six to finish second against slightly softer. Although this is a tougher class, others are moving up in class to this race, perhaps making this a softer division of a true non-winners of $400 per start. CC Dreamer will start from the second tier and the rail horse will likely be the favorite as she has early speed. With a trip our choice can close strong in the stretch.
The Play: $1 trifecta Key 9/12456 Cost: $20
Northfield Park Race #10
#2 Classic Sakuri (9-2) will finally draw inside in this highly contentious race where many horses in here are in optimal form. Classic Sakuri races her best on the front and has been unable to showcase her speed with her recent bad luck of poor post draws. I belive in this race it will be all systems go, and she will be firing right from the start.
The Play: $2 trifecta 2/13/134569 Cost: $20
Northfield Park Race #14
#1 Hally (7-2) makes her third start in this barn off a claim and will now draw inside and drop in class back to the level in which she was claimed for $3,000. She has beaten similar to these before in wire-to-wire fashion and draws the perfect post to try and repeat. She gets this year's North American dash leading driver in the bike.
The Play: $1 trifecta 1/236/all Cost: $21

Balmoral Park Race #7
#10 Western Deal (4-1) loomed large last time out when showing speed from post eight, closing in a :27.3 last quarter. This 17- time winner from 39 races this year is in very sharp form and can race either way, close to the front or from behind. We will take a shot with him despite his outside draw.
The Play: $10 to win and place #10 Cost: $20
Balmoral Park Race #8
#8 Gimmeazzmooch (8-1) is a price play worth considering here. She has made $32,000 in 38 starts this year. She is proven that she likes Balmoral as she finished strong in a 1:55 mile three starts back with a :27 last quarter. She has faced tougher in recent starts, and at 8-1 morning line the price is right!
The Play: $10 to win on #8 and $9 to place on #8 Cost: $19
