Fort Washington, MD --- William Camp, Jr. and John Sumner’s Readbtweenthelines got a perfect pocket trip, overtook the field late, and won a $7,400 winners-over pace for distaffers on Thursday at Rosecroft Raceway.

The 5-year-old daughter of Spirited Style sat on the rail, tucked in behind the favorite, Nuclear Folks, came up in the passing lane, and crossed the wire in front of the field by a neck. Trainer John Sumner named Jonathan Roberts to drive, and the mare earned a 2005 best win in 1:554.

Nuclear Folks, a 6-year-old Nuclear High mare, cut moderate fractions of :281, :573, and 1:262, but was overtaken near the wire and finished fourth. The winner of last week’s race in this class, Don’t Curse Me, came on strong on the outside of the pack and scored second place honors with Cliff Green in the bike. Third at the wire was Kehms Becky, driven by Brian Burton, and overlooked at 40-1.

Readbtweenthelines returned a win price of $43.00, and the 1-6-2 Trifecta paid a bountiful $1,411.40.
