Ft. Washington, MD --- John Wagner won four races on opening night for the Fall meet at Rosecroft Raceway Sunday night (Sept. 16), including the $12,000 featured Open Pace with Sam's Triple Crown in 1:51.1.

It was the eighth win of the year for the 4-year-old Art Official offspring, who parlayed a perfect second-over trip from Wagner into the third win in his last five starts.

Jonathan Roberts also won four races on the night, sweeping the early daily double with Fashion Smile who scored at an astonishing 8-1 off a 2-1 morning line and Capital Builder who won the $10,000 Open Two category in 1:53.3.

The 14-year-old Arts Blaze, who won a number of races early in his career for Frank Milby at Rosecroft, took the finale last night for his 52nd career win in 354 starts for driver Jason Thompson. John Urbanski owns and trains the Artsplace gelding in his final season of racing.

Roberts and Wagner each won a Maryland Sires Stakes preliminary before the live card. Roberts won with 2-year-old gelding trotter I Deliver for Iron Mine Branch and trainer Greg Haverstick, while Wagner cruised home with Dancin The Can Cam in a 2-year-old filly pace for Michael Hans and trainer Arlene Cameron. Both horses picked up their first career win.

Jim Morand won the final non-betting preliminary with Whoopdee Goo as the son of Googoo Gaagaa improved to four-for-five lifetime for owner-trainer Richard Hans.
