The 3-year-old Credit Winner gelding quarter-moved to the lead, then defeated Striking Encore (Jason Bartlett) by a pair of lengths in 1:57.1.

After the achievement, as required by state and federal law, Sears was presented with the obligatory congratulatory sign.

He began the afternoon getting win 9,999 with favored Top Flight Angel ($5.40)—the 2017 Yonkers Trot winner—in the $44,000 Open Handicap Trot (1:54.3).

The 50-year-old Sears, a native of Fort Lauderdale, Fla. has career purse earnings in excess of $186 million.
