John Joseph, 87, dies

Columbus, OH --- John Fredrick Joseph, 87, of Bloomingburg, Ohio, died Sept. 4, 2017 at his home.

He was born Sept. 7, 1929, in Lawrence County to Elmer and Minnie Davis Joseph. He was a semi-tractor trailer owner and driver for many years and he also worked as an owner, driver, trainer, and breeder of Standardbreds.

He was a member of the United States Trotting Association, Fayette County Horsemen's Association, AMVETS, and the Moose Lodge.

He enjoyed working with his horses and being with his family and grandchildren.

Mr. Joseph was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Terry Coy; and siblings, Maynard, Ed, Bill, Irene Lipscomb, Bessie Allen, Mae Ireland, and Rose Jordan. Survivors include his loving significant other, Marcia Massie; children, Vicki (Don) Jacobs, Tracy, Dan (Cyndi), David (Mami), Jo Lynn (Ty) Van Rhoden, and Lee (Debbie) Massie; grandchildren, Donna (Mike) Puckett, Kevin Coy, Dan (Christina), Amy (Chris), Olivia Bennett, Skyler Bennett, Cameron Van Rhoden, and Layne Massie; seven great-grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren; mothers of his children, Delores Mills and Betty Joseph; siblings, Norma Cartwright and Don (Phyllis); and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.

The funeral service will be held on Sunday (Sept. 10) at 5 p.m. at the Summers Funeral Home with Pastor John Pfeifer officiating. Friends may visit at the funeral home on Sunday afternoon from 2 p.m. until the time of service. In keeping with Mr. Joseph’s wishes, cremation will be observed following his service.
