Lee Daniels Jr., 87, dies

Clayton, DE --- Longtime horseman Lee C. Daniels Jr., 87, died at his Clayton, Del., home on Aug. 4, 2017.

Mr. Daniels, who combined farming with his passion for Standardbreds, raced horses at Delaware and Maryland racetracks during the last half of the 20th century. He was a trainer and a driver. His late son, Mark, was also a First State horseman whose skill was driving trotters.

Mr. Daniels was preceded in death by Elinor, his wife of 43 years. He is survived by his children, Terry (Rodger) Montgomery, Kenneth (Pat) and Cheryl (Kathy); sister, Helen Butler; brother, Ralph; many nephews, nieces, and cousins; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

A visitation and memorial service was held in Smyrna, Del., with a private burial scheduled for a later date.
