Bob Pandolfo offers his picks for the $50,000 Pick-4 at Meadowlands Racetrack on May 31, part of the U.S. Trotting Association Strategic Wagering Program.
Meadowlands Pick-4, Races 7-10, Saturday, May 31, 2014
No luck last night in a tough sequence. I played two $8 tickets. I hit the Pick-4 last Saturday night, May 24. It was my third win of the Championship meet and I now have a profit. I hit it twice, once for 50 cents on the standard ticket, and again on the whale ticket. The payoff of $250.70 for a 50 cent wager was excellent. Championship meet totals: Standard ticket, eight plays, +$135.60. Whale ticket: five plays, +$299.25.
For the winter meet, I had one hit for $1,144.50 on the whale ticket and no winners on the standard tickets. Winter meet totals: 44 plays, 0 hits, -$1,236.00. Whale ticket: 17 plays, one hit, -$2,938.50.
Standard ticket: 50 cent play: 12589/458/56/39 = $30
Whale ticket: 50 cent play: 12589/34578/6/3 = $12.50
Race 7: Pretty wide open race. (1) Quik Magic drops and is my top pick, but there are five horses I think can win this.
Race 8: Competitive race. (5) Caviart Key ships in from Yonkers and gets Gingras and is my top pick, but I also used (4) Jins Dragon and (8) Sir Melo's Z Tam.
Race 9: My top pick is (6) Freddy Day Hanover, but (5) Mighty Young Joe figures closely here.
Race 10: (3) Tell Us More is going to get bet tonight. He has been rounding into form and last start he finished well from a tough spot in a very fast field. (9) Hilarious Halo comes off a solid effort in the same key race.
