Bob Pandolfo offers his picks for the $50,000 Pick-4 at Meadowlands Racetrack on May 30, part of the U.S. Trotting Association Strategic Wagering Program.
Meadowlands Pick-4, Races 7-10, Friday, May 30, 2014
I hit the Pick-4 Saturday night. It was my third win of the Championship meet and I now have a profit. I hit it twice, once for 50 cents on the standard ticket, and again on the whale ticket. The payoff of $250.70 for a 50 cent wager was excellent.
Championship meet totals: standard ticket, eight plays, +$135.60. Whale ticket: five plays, +$299.25.
For the winter meet, I had one hit for $1,144.50 on the whale ticket and no winners on the standard tickets. Winter meet totals: 44 plays, 0 hits, -$1,236.00. Whale ticket: 17 plays, one hit, -$2,938.50.
Standard ticket: 50 cent play: 49/17/23/35 = $8
Whale ticket: 50 cent play: 78/16/25/34 = $8
Race 7: Tonight's sequence looks extremely tough. I'm not going to invest too much and I'm going to try something different. I'm going to use my top two picks in each race on the standard ticket, and on the whale ticket I'm going to use the top two horses that my Diamond System computer handicapping program picks off Meadowlands lines. In this race, (4) Handsoffmycookie and (9) Monochromatic are my top two picks. It's a wide open race.
Race 8: (1) PT's Boomerang is the obvious choice but she rarely wins. (7) Arriba Amigo may try leaving this time.
Race 9: (2) Marinade Hanover looks tough off the drop and (3) Major Look also drops.
Race 10: This is a tough race. I'm using the obvious favorite, (3) Bluto, and (5) Upfrontstrikesgold, who gets a better post second time off the drop in class.
