The fifth leg of the GSY Amateur Trotting series took place at Tioga Downs under beautiful skies in upstate New York on Saturday evening (May 24).

The race started out with Robert Hechkoff aboard Tagmaster going to the front, where he likes to be, from post 5. He held the lead until the top of the stretch until Roy Marohn, aboard the post-time favorite, Don’t Know Chip, took over for a length victory in 1:59.

Tagmaster held onto second by a head over a fast-closing Dreamnwillie, driven by Matt Zuccarello, who took the show dough.

The sixth leg will continue next Friday night at the Meadowlands.
