Fearless Man ties track record at Harrah's Philadelphia

Chester, PA --- Donald Emond's Fearless Man tied the track record for 4-year-old trotters with an impressive win in Wednesday's featured race at Harrah's Philadelphia.

The son of Elegant Man quickly grabbed control off the wings and made every call a winning one. Opening Night closed well for second while Drift Away, who battled first over, finished third. Fearless Man tied Sevruga's mark of 1:52.1 set back in May 2012.

The Monte Gelrod trainee picked up his 12th career win and now has earnings of more than $200,000. He was driven by Brett Miller.

In other news, driver Tim Tetrick had five wins on the program.

Live racing continues Thursday with a first post of 12:40 p.m.

The Meadows
Daylon Miracle overpowered the field in Wednesday’s $18,000 Filly & Mare Preferred Handicap Trot at The Meadows, notching her second straight victory and ninth in 16 starts this year. Daylon Miracle had to fight three wide for the early lead, but when Aaron Merriman gave her a :29 second-quarter breather, she was home free, scoring in 1:53.4. The pocket-sitting Mistress Valentine was a length back in second while Unefoisdansmavie earned the show. Bill Bercury trains and owns the 5-year-old daughter of Pegasus Spur-Daylon Marvel, who now boasts $345,787 in career earnings. Dave Palone drove four winners and Merriman three on the 14-race card.

Buffalo Raceway
Ugly Betty has tried the same front-running tactic in the $10,500 Fillies and Mares Open Pace at Buffalo Raceway for two straight weeks.
So far, so good. For the second consecutive week, Ugly Betty ($3.50) has gone wire-to-wire and recorded a 1-1/2 length victory over Seascape Hanover in 1:54.3 on Wednesday night. It was a seasonal mark for Ugly Betty and just one-fifth of a second off the track record for older pacing mares. Driver Jack Flanigen alertly sent Ugly Betty to the lead at the start and dared the remaining seven to try and catch her. With fractions of :28.2, :57 and 1:26, Ugly Betty enjoyed a comfortable two length lead at the top of the stretch and breezed to the finish line with no serious challenges. Seascape Hanover (Ron Beback Jr.) rode the pocket the entire mile and finished in second while Majic Laughter (Jim McNeight) rallied for third. The win was the fifth in 14 starts this season for Ugly Betty (Camluck-Red Road Rage), who has now earned $33,933 this season and $145,895 lifetime. The 6-year-old mare is owned by Margaret Payne and Jennifer Falcone and is trained by Dennis Dylo. Ugly Betty now has been in the money 10 out of 14 starts in 2014.

Harrington Raceway
David Miller’s Cash On Delivery ($7.60, Vince Copeland) capitalized on a drop in class Wednesday to capture the $7,600 featured conditioned trot in 1:56.1 at Harrington Raceway. The 6-year-old Cash Hall gelding followed Six Gun Hall, who was parked the entire mile, into the race and charged home off cover late to score a one length win. Six Gun Hall held second while Pounce Hanover, who was a pocket sitter behind pacesetter Mandabra, finished third. Cash On Delivery notched his 17th career win for trainer/driver Copeland and is coming off a 2013 season where he banked more than $116,000. Drivers Allan Davis and Bret Brittingham had three wins on the program. Ross Wolfenden, Mike Rossi and George Dennis each had a double.
