Last call for May 15 stakes payments

The May 15 deadline is drawing near for many stakes payments. Below are a list of notices that have been submitted to the USTA Newsroom.

Meadowlands Pace yearling payment due

East Rutherford, NJ --- For the first time, the Meadowlands Pace will require a yearling payment of $50 be made to nominate the pacing foals of 2013 to the 2016 race.

This payment is due (postmarked by) May 16. Questions should be directed to Nick Salvi at 607.972.5500.

Tioga Late Closing nominations due May 15

Nichols, NY --- Horsemen are advised that nominations for the Morrisville College, Nichols True Value, Williams Auto, and M&J Oil and Lube Late Closing series, to be held at Tioga Downs, are due this Thursday (May 15).

Each series offers two $12,500 preliminary rounds, with all four $40,000 (est.) finals scheduled for Sunday (June 22).

A nomination fee of $400 per horse must accompany the nomination blank. Series conditions and nomination details are available at this link.

PHRC reminds horsemen of 2014 Sire Stakes deadline

Harrisburg, PA --- The Pennsylvania Harness Racing Commission reminds Standardbred horse owners of the May 15 deadline for sire stakes payments.

The final payment of $100 for 3-year-old horses competing in the Fair Division is due May 15. No other payments are due for 3-year-olds.

For 2-year-olds, the second payments of $400 for the Pari-Mutuel Division and $50 for the Fair Division are also due May 15. Failing to make the second payment prohibits 2-year-olds from racing in the 2014 sire stakes. Owners who made the previous March 15 payment retain eligibility to race those horses as 3-year-olds.

WEG’s May 15 stakes payments fast approaching

Toronto, ON --- Woodbine Entertainment Group would like to issue a final reminder to owners/trainers that several stakes payments are due on or before Thursday, May 15, 2014. 

After a one-year absence, four 2-year-old stakes events are returning to the Mohawk stakes calendar. 

The Dream Maker and Whenuwishuponastar, for 2-year-old colt and filly pacers, will return in July.

On the 2-year-old trotting side, the Define The World (formerly Bridger) and Pure Ivory (formerly In Free) will also re-appear in August. 

Nominations are also due for a pair of sophomore events, the Summertime and Town Pro. 

There are numerous sustaining payments that are due for the circuit’s major stakes events, including the C$1 million Pepsi North America Cup, C$685,000 Metro Stakes, etc. 

Payments must also be kept up on the 2015 Champlain Stakes, Champlain Filly Stakes (for 2-year-olds) along with the Simcoe Stakes, Simcoe Filly Stakes and WEG 2016 SBOA Stakes (Standardbred Breeders of Ontario Association). 

The start of the 102-date Mohawk meet is scheduled for Thursday, May 22.

May payments due in Maryland

Union Bridge, MD --- Two-year-old payments (foals of 2012) are due to the Maryland Standardbred Fund and the Maryland Sire Stakes on May 15. This payment is for 2-year-olds that will be racing in 2014.

Yearling nominations (foals of 2013) to the Maryland Standardbred Fund and the Maryland Sire Stakes are also due on May 15.

Meadowlands May 15 payment reminder

East Rutherford, NJ --- Several stakes/Early Closers hosted by The Meadowlands require a May 15 payment. Those include the final in a series of payments for the Meadowlands Pace and other marquee summer races.

The Ima Lula series for 4-year-old mare trotters calls for a nomination fee of $1,000 to be made eligible for the two legs and final of that event.

Of special note to breeders is the $50 yearling payment on foals of 2013 to race in the 2016 Meadowlands Pace, which is due for the first time on May 15.

DSBF payments due May 15

Dover, DE --- Delaware Standardbred Breeders Fund May 15 payments are due for 2-year-olds and yearlings.

All 2-year-olds must have made the March 15 payment. All yearling payments must enclose a copy of the USTA registration papers or a Pathway “Basic Horse” report.

The payment for 2-year-olds is $200 and for yearlings is $40.

If your 2-year-old is not going to race in 2014 this payment can be skipped. The next payment will be February 15, 2015.

As previously announced we can now take credit cards for payment. All payments must be postmarked by May 15. We strongly suggest that you use any type of mail which can be tracked.

May 15 payments are due for Hambletonian Society stakes

Cranbury, NJ --- Yearling nominations for all events administered by the Hambletonian Society and sustaining payments for all other races serviced by the Society are due Thursday (May 15). All payments must be postmarked by midnight, May 16, as provided by the USTA rule.

New this year is an additional May 15 payment for the Ben Franklin (open pacers) and Earl Beal Jr. Memorial (3-year-old trotters) and two new races with May 15 payments, The Dayton Derby (4-year-olds and up) and the Carl Milstein Memorial (3-year-old pacers).

Eligibility lists for races with a final payment on February, March, and April 15, 2014, are posted on the website. Race conditions, payment forms and much more information is now available online.

Fees due on May 15 for SBOANJ-sponsored stakes

Manalapan, NJ --- Nomination payments are due for New Jersey-sired yearlings on May 15 for the 2015 Harold and Marion Dancer Trots, the 2015 New Jersey Futurity and the 2016 editions of the Anthony Abbatiello New Jersey Classic, Thomas D’Altrui Miss New Jersey, and the Charles and Helen Smith Trots.

Additionally, the second sustaining payments for the 2014 Harold and Marion Dancer Trots and this year’s New Jersey Futurity are also due on May 15.

The yearling nominating fees range from $25 to $35 while the sustaining payments are $400 for the Dancers and $300 for the Futurity.

NJSS yearling nominations due May 15

Trenton, NJ --- Important payments are due May 15 to make and keep horses eligible to the lucrative New Jersey Sire Stakes program and other special stakes races for New Jersey-sired horses.

Nominations are due for foals of 2013 that are yearlings in 2014. All horses nominated must be registered with the U. S. Trotting Association or Canadian Standardbred Horse Society.

For eligibility to the Sire Stakes program (Premier and Green Acres divisions), payments should be mailed to NJSS, P.O. Box 330, Trenton, NJ 08625. NJSS strongly suggests the use of certified mail to avoid potential problems in mailing or delivery of payments. No late payments are accepted.

The fee is $50 for the NJSS Premier and Green Acres divisions if a copy of the yearling’s registration certificate accompanies the nomination. Without a copy of the certificate, the fee is $75. The Lou Babic Pace nomination fee, which is also due May 15, is an additional $25 for the open division and $15 for the filly division.

It is important to note that the yearling nomination fee is $250 if the foal being nominated is the result of the interstate transport of a registered New Jersey stallion’s semen to a mare outside the state of New Jersey, provided a copy of the certificate accompanies the fee. Without the certificate, the interstate semen transport nomination fee is $275.

FSBOA stake payments due May 15

Pompano Beach, FL --- The FSBOA stake payments are due by May 15.

Yearlings (foals of 2013): FL Breeders Stake-$25, FL Stallion Stake-$50, Sunshine State Stake-$25

2-year-olds: FL Breeders Stake-$200, FL Stallion Stake-$100, Sunshine State Stake-$50 and Melvyn Aylor Memorial-$200

3-year-olds: FL Breeders Stake-$200, FL Stallion Stake-$100
