Catskill Steve offers his picks for the $20,000 Pick-4 at Balmoral Park on May 3 part of the U.S. Trotting Association Strategic Wagering Program.

Balmoral Park  Pick-4, Races 10-13, Saturday, May 3, 2014

 $1 play: 46/467/5910/7= $18

Analysis:

Race 10: (4) T E's Zenyatta pushed hard but couldn't clear through :56.3 middle half finished evenly through :28 flat final quarter in unlucky try. Mare remains sharp and can brush past these.  recent starts. (6) Seeyouatthefinish raced gamely also through uncovered final half and just missed. Two back exploded with :54.4 final half to roll by lesser. Mare steps up sharp and will likely be following top one's cover.

Race 11: I'll go three deep in tough race. (6) Best Man Hanover blasted to the top from 8-hole, yielded for the pocket, finished evenly although lacking a rally in sparkling 1:51.4 mile. Takes key drop and is one that must be used. (4) Major Monet carved out the fractions against tougher and couldn't hold off strong winner through :26.4 final quarter. Tough at or near the front. (7) Major Male paced a wicked 1:22.1 final three quarters rallying strongly from impossible third over spot. Dangerous is anywhere near the top turning for home.

Race 12:  Another wide open Saturday night event. (5) Shiswell's Delight has finished fast in last two and may be set for big mile in fourth start since December. (10) Always A Fighter was used hard through fast pace and weakened. Takes a key drop and could be value play if new pilot can get him into the race early. (9) Jerrico put in a solid effort at this level two back before being outpaced against tougher in last. Drops back to best level and is another possible upsetter but will have to navigate 9-hole.

Race 13: (7) Jersey Shore well bred pacer has been lightly raced thus far but has shown much improvement as a four-year-old for Phillips and faces a suspect field.

Good Luck!
