The powerful duo of driver Eric Raffin and trainer Sebastian Guarato won another Group 1 race on Saturday afternoon (March 1) at Vincennes. It was their sixth Group 1 win during the Winter meeting.

In the Prix de Selection, which had a total purse of 325,000 Euro and was raced over the 1-5/16th mile distance, Raffin was behind the 4-year-old trotter Aladin d’Ecajeul, who fought bravely to hold off 6-year-old Uhlan du Val, driven by Cedric Megissier, who trailed the field by 25 meters. Aladin d’Ecajeul was timed in 1:55.3 (mile rate).
Aladin d’Ecajeul is a chestnut trotter from the first crop of Quaker Jet, who hails from the first crop of Love You. In 2013 Love You was not only the champion sire in France, Sweden and Germany, but also the world’s leading trotting sire.
The Winter meeting came to end Saturday and Vincennes carded nine races with a total purse of $1.3 million.
During the Winter meeting foreign trotters have been very successful at Vincennes and when Sanity of Sweden won the Prix de l’Union Europenne on Saturday afternoon, it was the 42nd race won by foreign trotters. Last year the amount totaled 37 races and the year before 25. Some 147 races from a total of 741 were open to foreign trotters.
