Freehold, NJ --- Dreamlands Big C took command on the final turn, increased his lead through the stretch, and won the $36,000 New Jersey Futurity for 3-year-old New Jersey-sired pacers at Freehold Raceway on Thursday.

Dreamlands Big C, a gelded son of Donerail, won by three and three-quarters lengths in a time of 1:582 with Jeff Gregory in the sulky. Bar Exam (Cat Manzi), who had led from shortly after the start of the race, held well and finished second. It was another two and one-quarter lengths back to Dreamlands Lidle D (Cliff Green), who finished third.

The New Jersey Futurity win was the second in 15 starts this year for Dreamlands Big C. The Joe King trainee returned $16.00 to win and earned $18,000 for his owner, Dreamland Farms of Cream Ridge, N.J.

A pair of $10,000 divisions of the fourth leg of the New Jersey Sire Stakes Green Acres series for New Jersey-sired 2-year-old pacing colts and geldings were raced on the Freehold undercard.

In the first division, Adam Victor and Son Stable’s Brokaw won by one and one-quarter lengths in 1:582 with Stephane Bouchard at the reins. Big Switch (Howard Parker) finished second and Quixotic (Cat Manzi) finished third.

Division two saw Tommay N Dakota Stables, Goldfarb, Thomas, and Burt’s Desist Hanover register a pacesetting, 1:581 victory with Gregory in the bike. Western Sign (Jim Marshall, III) closed well but finished a neck behind in second. Hurrikane Shannon (Jim Morrill, Jr.) checked-in third, three lengths behind the winner.
