Restive Hanover splits horses in mid-stretch to win the $106,700 International Stallion-White Birch Farm Stakes for two-year-old pacing fillies.
Angels Have Wings (David Miller) was first off the starting gate and into the lead before the :27.1 first quarter. Just Wait Kate tipped out to challenge down the backstretch and was onto the lead by the :55 half and held it to the 1:23.2 three-quarters. Western Cruise put on a bit of a rally at the head of the strech, but Restive Hanover's rally was strongest of all as she took the lead in mid-stretch and was never seriously challenged after that. She won by two-and-a-half lengths with Just Wait Kate and Western Cruise behind her. Artistic Hanover was fourth and Southern Magnolia was fifth.

Asked if the daughter of The Panderosa preferred to come from behind or stay on the lead, driver Andy Miller said, "She'll go either way, she's pretty versatile." She is expected to start in the Breeders Crown at Woodbine for trainer Erv Miller and owners Starmaker Farm of Mason, Ohio, and AJ McEldowney of Lexington, Kentucky.
