Russell Shaeffer, 50, dies

Columbus, OH --- Russell Shaeffer, 50, died Dec. 22, 2013, after a battle with spleen, liver, pancreatic and lung cancer.

He was a farrier and trainer and worked for some of the biggest trainers in the industry.

He is survived by his mother, Margaret (Snedeker); sister, Deb Pendergrass; and his son, Samuel Thomas and sister Kaitlin. He was preceded in death by his brother, Steven; brother-in-law, Steve Pendergrasss; and father, Sam.
