Blissfull Romance takes Meadows F&M pace

Washington, PA --- Blissfull Romance survived a demanding first quarter and easily disposed of the field in Monday’s $22,500 Filly & Mare Not Listed Preferred/Preferred Handicap Pace at The Meadows.

Blissfull Romance was parked from post eight in a :27.3 opening panel on a “good” track. Once in front, the 5-year-old daughter of Blissfull Hall-Draconian Promise experienced no serious challenge, prevailing in 1:55.2 for Dave Palone. Shine N Shimmer found late racing room to finish second, three-quarters of a length back, with Montenegro third.

Ron Burke trains Blissfull Romance, who won half of her 18 starts in 2013, for Burke Racing Stable and Weaver Bruscemi LLC.

Mike Wilder drove five winners on the 16-race card.

Dover Downs
After a two-month absence from the winner’s circle, Monochromatic returned to winning form to score a 1:52.3 victory in the $20,000 Mares Open Pace at Dover Downs on Monday.
Corey Callahan drove Monochromatic into the lead after San Fran Lady N took the field to the quarter in :26.1. From there to the finish line, Monocromatic had to ward off a strong challenge from Yagonnakissmeornot, driven by Ron Pierce, from mid-backstretch until deep in the lane. Monochromatic held on for a 1:52.3 decision. Cooking The Books closed from far back for Allan Davis to best San Fran Lady N and Tony Morgan for place money. The victory was the 47th in the career of the Dream Away-Miss Ty 9-year-old who now has banked $764,155 for North State Street Stable.
