Bad Man Sam makes it three straight in Dover Sunday feature
Dover, DE --- Bad Man Sam made it three wins in a row, fighting off a determined bid from Stubbs Hanover to post a 1:55.3 victory in the $20,000 male claiming pace feature over a sloppy track on Sunday at Dover Downs.
|Bad Man Sam was a 1:55.3 winner in the Sunday feature.|
Trainer-driver Jason Lynch claimed Bad Man Sam for owner Jim Jacobs in late November and now has won three of his four starts since.
This time the 5-year-old altered son of Badlands Hanover-Greenspring took the lead at the start and led until Trace Tetrick raced up with Stubbs Hanover as the field proceeded toward the three-quarters.
The duo raced head-to-head around the final turn with Stubbs Hanover poking his nose in front turning down the lane. Lynch urged Bad Man Sam into a slight lead as the rest of the field began to converge and Bad Man Sam held on for his eighth success of the year. Bad Rusty (Tony Morgan) closed along the passing lane to edge Stubbs Hanover for second with Lord Terror (Vic Kirby) a close-up fourth.
After the race, Bad Man Sam had a new home as he was claimed by Gary Ewing, one of five claims entered on the winner.
Jonathan Roberts and Tony Morgan drove two winners each.
