Catskill Steve offers his picks for the $25,000 Pick-4 at Balmoral Park on December 15 part of the U.S. Trotting Association Strategic Wagering Program.

Balmoral Park  Pick-4, Races 7-10, Sunday, December 15, 2013

 $1 play: 3,5,9/5,9/4,10/2,3,6= $36

Analysis:

Race 7: (3) Lima Calliope strong finishing mare has been over matched against tougher in recent, drops to best level and should be sitting close to the top turning for home. (5) Fox Valley Absolut takes a sharp drop and looks like a major factor on or near the top. I'm not giving up on (9) Dp Angel who I have picked often in recent weeks. She draws a tough slot but drops to the level of two strong wins back in early autumn and will likely offer some value here.

Race 8: (9) Earthly Desire sharp filly is at career peak right now for The Seekman's and has speed to secure an early spot from 9-hole. (5) Kiss Me After cost me the Pick-4 last Wednesday but I can't complain as filly gave her all powering home from dead last to nail place on brutal 9-degree night.

Race 9:  (3) Fox Valley Legend had an impossible fourth over trip, came wide turning for home and was full of trot rallying five wide only to make unfortunate break while ready to get to the leaders. Gets a better spot and another chance. (10) Salutation Hanover had a nightmare trip when reduced to this level and somehow managed place in monster mile.

Race 10: (3) Nash Gram takes key drop and may be too tough for this level. (2) Jo Jo Spur had a long uncovered grind on 12-degree night, understandably tired. Five-year-old has a powerful kick when released at thr ight time and has a shot here. (6) Fox Valley Ivan 3-year-old is razor sharp and beat some of these in easy fashion last time.

Good Luck!
