Catskill Steve offers his picks for the $25,000 Pick-4 at Balmoral Park on December 8 part of the U.S. Trotting Association Strategic Wagering Program.

Balmoral Park  Pick-4, Races 7-10, Sunday, December 8, 2013

$1 play: 458/357/7,10/2= $18

Race 7: I'll start tonight's Pick-4 with what should be a huge price in (4) Ld's Dash who's had tough trips in recent. Last time first-up on windy night before fading, two back racing wide early from 7-hole, securing a tuck and finishing with :27.1 final quarter to miss by three lengths and three back uncovered off a slow pace and chasing :56.1 final half before folding. May be worth a shot here. (8) Mortal Combat has had good pace finishing in recent and will likely be charging late. (5) Argon Fire rallied boldly off slow fractions to nail place in latest following a strong brush into the wind two back tiring down the lane in good try. Well-bred sophomore seems heading in the right direction.

Race 8: These trots have cost me more Pick-4's than any other races. (7) Salutation Hanover takes a sharp drop and figures to be too tough for this level. (3) Kiss Me I'm Loaded cost me last Wednesday's Pick-4 when he broke early and often at 6-5. Had been in good form prior and looks like the main threat to top one if he stays flat. (5) Fox Valley Legend has had a solid season against fast sophomores and appears to be sharpening again off last two.

Race 9:  (7) Sexy Card Shark is in raging form right now and, although winning seven-in-a-row at Balmoral isn't done often, is hard to go past here. (10) Ryleigh's Filly draws another tough post but this filly can flat out fly late and beat better than these earlier in the year; chance with a fast early pace and any kind of trip.

Race 10: (2) Rockme Amadeous is hard to back with much confidence having gone 3 for his last 52 and bringing a 5 for 120 career resume to the table but this one showed marked improvement against better field in first start for new barn and may take it with continued improvement.
