Triode de Felliere , a 6-year-old mare, sprang a big surprise Saturday afternoon at Vincennes in the Prix de Bourbonnais, a prep race for The Prix d’Amerique.
With Anthony Barrier in the bike she managed to get the better of 5-year-old Uhlan du Val driven by Cedric Megissier. Uhlan de Val was the winner of earlier prep race, the Prix de Bretagne.
Triode de Felliere is owned and trained by Jean Paul Marmion, who runs a racing stable with mainly trotters, owned by him. Some years ago he enjoyed a huge success with the gelding, General du Lupin.
Ready Cash - the richest trotter ever in France - had won this race the two previous years and he returned to action after a break that has lasted a little more than two months.
Ready Cash had to trail the field by 25 meters along with this year’s winner of the Prix d’Amerique, Royal Ream and the powerful Timoko. In the betting Ready Cash was the favorite, but he was driven carefully by Franck Nivard, who made his move very late and Ready Cash finished seventh.
