Catskill Steve offers his picks for the $10,000 Pick-5 pool at Yonkers Raceway on Dec. 2, part of the U.S. Trotting Association Strategic Wagering Program.

Yonkers Raceway Pick-5, Races 5-9, Monday, Dec. 2, 2013

$.50 play: 46/156/256/23/13 = $36

Analysis:

Race 5: (4) Quantum Confident has had tough trips in all recent starts, burning plenty of money in the process; remains sharp and can atone tonight. (6) Beautiful Windsong missed a week due to judges scratch but beat this level in last two starts, displaying a strong brush in both and trotting fast miles in the process.

Race 6: (1) It's A Miracle has taken seven in a row, mostly on the Indiana Fair Circuit. Ships in for top barn in the country after taking lifetime best mile two back at Hoosier and a solid win against slightly lesser in most recent at Harrah's Philadelphia in his first starts in Burke barn. (5) Fancy Desire has finished second behind buzzsaw in last two. Freshman has hit the board in nine of 10 starts this year and seems close to beating her older foes here. (6) Kj's Foxy Lady had some pace finishing from eight hole against older rivals. Meets her own age group tonight at slightly lesser level and could offer some value.

Race 7: (2) Viper Hanover chased runaway winner home for place in sparkling mile. (6) Dragon Laws ships in sharp from Pocono and has paced some fast miles over past two seasons. (5) Diamond Star sat the pocket off slow pace, chased in stepped up final half but weakened in extra distance event. Drops and has a shot.

Race 8: (3) Keystone Wanda may hold on against these. (2) Windsun Kenda comes in off a solid placing in Yonkers return. Brennan may look to leave for the pocket tonight behind top one and should be a handful late.

Race 9: (3) Alfredsson is a sharp 6-year-old that finds a good spot to stalk what figures to be a quicker pace than in his latest and can mow 'em down late as he did back in November when he easily beat the likely heavy favorite in this. (1) Report For Duty N has been ultra consistent at this level, gets the rail but will have to avoid an early speed battle.

Good luck.
