Yonkers Raceway Pick-5, Races 5-9, Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2013
$.50 play: 123/457/24/236/8 = $27
Race 5: (1) Quantum Confident was in tough at Pocono last time following a series of good tries against faster here. Gets the rail in second start off a month on the shelf and looks best. (2) Alternate Thursdays has done little in recent but drops another notch looking for the right level and knows his way to the winner's circle having won 13 races in past two seasons. (3) Dead Wrong had even trot in mile and a sixteenth event off the bench; dangerous on best.
Race 6: (7) Cowboy Tough is a midwestern bred who took a lifetime mark in first try at Yonkers two back then had good pace finishing in 1:53.4 mile last time. Youngster has ability going 7 for 14 on the year and can continue to move forward against so-so field. (5) We Never Getacolt has chased fast miles in last two at Pocono, returns to the smaller oval where he put in a decent try at this level three back and looks to be a factor. (4) Mr Presley had little from the second tier at Saratoga in latest following a sharp form spree at Monticello where he paced and won in a few quick miles; ships in for Catskill's leading trainer and should offer some value.
Race 7: (4) Charger Blue Chip appears the sharpest of these and can leave or brush from this spot. (2) Gointhruthemotions hasn't raced since July but took his lifetime mark here earlier in the year, finds a good spot for Miller barn who usually returns them ready.
Race 8: (2) Talking Blues was a game two-move winner in local debut and first start in powerful Burke barn, steps up and can take another. (3) Boots N Bourbon returns from Saratoga where he held well for show after being used hard early, parked from the eight hole past a :28.3 quarter racing off three days rest; two back finished boldly to nail second at this level. Finds a better spot and may be on edge. (6) Storm The Beach is just three for 25 career wise, but well-bred sophomore has paced some fast miles in his career and is dangerous with a trip over the track.
Race 9: (8) Fox Valley Action invades from Balmoral and joins forces with the always sharp Casie Coleman barn. Youngster faced some top Chicago breds in Midwest stakes events and comes off two solid tries, the latest a :55.2 middle half brush to the top, giving way grudgingly late in 1:51.2 mile and two back uncovered past a wicked 1:22.2 three-quarters. Draws eight hole in local debut but will likely be ready for a big mile.
