Race 5: It's trot night as 4 of the 5 legs of tonight's Pick-5 are for the diagonally gaited Standardbreds. (4) Crazy Grigio has been chasing tougher on The NYSS trail much of the year. Finds a soft spot and looks best if she can stay flat, something she has found difficult to do in a number of her races. (1) Bullville Ata Girl smooth gaited filly starts at fourth different track in last four starts; comes off a strong uncovered placing at Saratoga in latest and figures to go well from the pole.
Race 6: (5) Quick Deal banged heads with the top trotters in the sport at Lexington and finished second to Arch Madness in 1:50.2 mile two back. Lacks experience around four turns, but meets no such foes here and need only stay flat to handle these.
Race 7: Tough trot. (1) Beau Joe was used hard brushing to the top from 8-hole, bottomed out chasing quick third quarter and faded. Loses Brennan but gets the rail and can work out a trip. (2) Flashy Lady grinded uncovered in same race as top one, drew off powerfully in impressive score. (4) Nightime Flash invades from Pocono where he had steady rally from 8-hole in latest after showing speed prior. Finds a good spot for solid trot barn and can leave or race from behind off what should be a quick pace. (6) Easy Strength steps up in sharp form and is another that can leave or race from off the pace.
Race 8: (3) Money On My Mind classy type ships to Yonkers off some solid speed efforts at Pocono and Philadelphia; should be able to go down the road. (7) Mymomsablizzard smashed the 55-year-old Monticello track record for older trotting mares two back, then followed it up with a gate-to-wire win at Saratoga. Mare draws tough slot returning to Yonkers but is in raging form and has some back class.
Race 9: (3) Chipchompinchampin Indiana bred sophomore ships east for good barn and has been chasing some quick miles in the midwest; knows his way around the half-miler and gets Bartlett in local debut. (2) Colbys Comet had little from tough spot in local debut and first start since August. Finds a better spot for good connections and should be tougher tonight; colt won in 1:55.3 at slow Charlottetown Track in Nova Scotia before shipping east and should fit at this level.
