Yonkers Raceway Pick-5, Races 5-9, Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2013
$.50 play: 135/25/57/37/457 = $36
Race 5: (1) Uncle Freddie held on to wire similar at added distance two back, then gamely held on after making a quick brush to the top at Pocono, also against similar. Gets the rail and looks tough. (3) Getinonthesecret also went wire-to-wire at added distance last time but against slightly lesser. Mare steps back up in the claiming ranks and may try this from off the pace. (5) Believable broke early at Pocono last time, recovered and was used trotting a :58 middle half attempting to recover, lacked a rally but did manage a :29.1 final quarter. Couldn't handle the slop against faster here two back and narrowed in gamely to just miss against top one three back. Finds a good spot to set up his late kick and should offer some value here.
Race 6: (2) Pictonian Pride is a sharp veteran who scored from the pocket in fast mile last time and charged home with :27.4 final quarter to win two back. Figures to be well spotted. (5) Cheyenne Oxe lacked a rally against top one last time after finishing full of pace to miss by a neck to top one two back. Consistent closer could be set in fourth try for DiDomenico.
Race 7: (7) Comicbook Hero brushed to the top, set a quick clip and was used in rebuffing challenge through :28.1 third quarter, drew off in strong win, taking lifetime mark in the process. (5) Major Seduction invades from Ohio for barn that ships well and comes off two solid placings in which he was used hard. Should fit with these and may go well at square price.
Race 8: (7) Fanelli Hanover put in a decent try against tougher here on Aug. 12 and now returns to Yonkers at reduced level for barn that does well wherever it races. Showed good speed at the big tracks in Pennsylvania and may try leaving from this spot with not an abundance of speed inside. (3) Trip Hanover was full of pace grinding to the top and opening a huge lead turning for home, easily holding sway against similar.
Race 9: (4) Lady's Bag Man had eight hole in last after finishing well for place against better field two back, pacing a :56.3 middle half, ducking to the passing lane only to be outkicked by powerful finisher. (5) Boxcar has been consistent since shipping in from Scioto and beat these two back. (7) Twin B Flirt doesn't look like much but comes out of some blistering Pocono miles and put in a decent try here at this level back in June. Could be live at a price against field looking to be beat.
