Yonkers Raceway Pick-5, Races 5-9, Monday, Sept. 30, 2013
50-cent play: 567/235/24/26/137 = $54
Race 5: (7) Delco Rocknroll has shown a solid late kick rallying through fast miles in recent; draws tough spot but appears sharp enough to overcome it. (5) Spunky Monkey This Philly invader had little last time following a tough, uncovered try two back; makes third start for new barn and may be well-placed off what could be a fast pace. (6) Southwind Chase had little in first try for new barn. Gets “The White Knight” back, who has won with this one the last three times he's been in the bike and winner of over $100Gs on the year has speed to be a major player.
Race 6: (3) Aled Hanover was claimed while sharp out of last, a powerful, wide, closing try finishing a neck behind the streaking winner who draws inside of him here; veteran may be better on the front end where “The Bomber” may be sending him from this spot. (5) Money Twitch A has a big late motor and drops back in for a tag where he seems to race best at. (2) Glass Prince shoots for a fifth straight and is hard to knock off a series of game miles.
Race 7: (4) Avenue Hanover grinded uncovered a long way against tougher before understandably tiring. Takes key drop and looks best at short price. (2) Hypnotist had little from the eight hole off the bench, drops, moves inside and figures to be tighter.
Race 8: (6) Rafferty Hanover drops in first start for new barn after showing speed against faster last time and may take them down the road with improvement expected. (2) Bullet Bob don't know if he can handle this level but ships-in from Freehold in sharp form, gets Sears and has won in 1:50.3 at Pocono this year and 1:50.4 last year at The Meadowlands.
Race 9: I'll wrap up tonight's Pick-5 with three stakes placed fillies: (1) O Narutac Rockette ships in sharp off two easy wins, one at Philadelphia and one at Harrington. Well-bred filly was competitive on The New Jersey Sire Stakes trail at The Meadowlands and against Grand Circuit fillies earlier in the year at Pocono. (3) JK Black Beauty is only two for 12 on the year but was a constant check earner on the New York Sire Stakes road for the strong Toscano barn and goes first time Lasix tonight. (7) Handsoffmycupcake has been competitive despite numerous tough trips all season long against stakes-placed Pennsylvania-sired foes; filly has yet to win in 2013 but her career earnings are well over a quarter-million bucks, and looking at her pedigree may be even better over a smaller oval. She will be dangerous despite her post.
