Balmoral Park Pick-4, Races 7-10, Wednesday, September 18, 2013
$1 play: 3,5,8,10/4,8/6,7,8/6,7= $48
Race 7: Tough opening leg to tonight's Pick-4 and, in a race void of much early speed, the key could be who can make the top in the early stages. (3) Always A Cheater had solid late pace from tough spot off sick scratch in last but made sharp brushes to the top in both her races two back and on 8/7. Finds a good spot to set up her brush and can take it if Wilfong is able to time her move right. (5) Lima Daydream responded to the driver change with a game win over many of these last time. Mare is capable of leaving and should be in the thick of the battle. (8) Lovers Holiday powerful finisher made up a ton of ground in the late stages of her latest but had too far to come. Not likely to be that far back against this field and will likely be charging late. (10) Fancy Free is the sharpest of these right now and has shown much improvement at this level but draws 10-hole and, although not a throw out, will need to be put into the action early by Leonard.
Race 8: (8) Larry's Place had a tough third over trip through fast pace, came wide and stormed home in :27.2 to miss by 2-¼ lengths. Veteran is sharp right now and very tough with the right trip. (4) Bestnotgetinmyway drops to the level where he's taken 3 of his last 4 all with strong final half rallies and should be a handful again.
Race 9: (6) Justice And Fifth has looked better in recent weeks and comes off a solid engine try doing well to finish third. May be set for Brink. (7) Fancy Label made an uncovered bid to three quarters and tired as field finished in :27.4 at Hoosier in last. Prior were two easy wins under wraps late in both. (8) Lazarus well bred but lightly raced sophomore scored from the pocket last time in quick mile but was most impressive at Duquoin three back roaring home also from the pocket and trotting a :27.3 final quarter enroute to a lifetime best 1:55.4 mile. Youngster draws a tough spot but appears to have plenty of upside and looks dangerous near the top or from off the pace.
Race 10: (6) Mile Saver has just failed to hold on in last two after being used hard twice on 8/25. May opt for a pocket trip here and looks ready to fire for The Husted's. (7) Beach's Nick had sharp qualifier here on 8/21 following 5 weeks on the bench then was parked the mile from 7-hole in return and still finished in :27.4. Has been idle for 17 days but barn usually returns them ready and this one figures to have big shot and will likely be pounded at the windows.
