Yonkers Raceway Pick-5, Races 5-9, Monday, September 9, 2013.
$.50 play: 1,2,3,4/1,2,5/1,5/8/2,5 = $24
Race 5: (1) See You At Office has been competitive against tougher NY breds from outside posts. Gets the rail for trotting guru Trond and will probably prove best. (2) Little King Cole left and was parked past quarter from 6-hole before securing pocket, pulled to go first up nearing three quarters and held well for place through :28.4 final panel. Better spot. (3) Royalty On High brushed to the top through fast pace in NY County Fair Final, held sway in fast trot for Batavia standards. Gets “The White Knight” for local debut and can't be dismissed. (4) Hey Buddy Mac has shown some ability in just a handful of starts including last time a steady rally from 8-hole to nail place in 1 1/16th mile event.
Race 6: (1) Alastair Hanover returns from Philadelphia off game uncovered score. Was an easy winner at this level on 7/30 and put in a solid first over try here on 8/20. May be able to control it from the rail. (2) No Gin had wide trip in fast mile against tougher following two good miles also against tougher. Drops and finds good spot. (5) Priceless Edition got away with slow early fractions but looked strong finishing registering a :56.2 final half to score in first try for new barn. May leave for the pocket behind top one and appears sharp enough to be dangerous.
Race 7: (1) Rock N Roll Legend never got involved from 8-hole last time following a game uncovered try two back in which he pushed a :27.3 third quarter uncovered only to miss by a head. Gets the rail and seems likely to be well placed. (5) Red Carpet Dude finished strongly to nail place in latest after making up good ground late in the slop two back. Claimed out of Burke barn (not a positive point) and moves into Drolet barn, a barn that does well with its claims.
Race 8: (8) Bettor's Arena didn't put in a bad effort when bumped up last time pacing a :56.2 middle half making wide move and still able to finish in :28.2. 4-year-old returns to best level and a level he had been racing in sharp form at, including a solid wire to wire try from 8-hole on 8/13 in the slop. May offer some value against this group.
Race 9: (2) Bruisen N Cruisen drops in for a tag after taking a lifetime mark at Pocono speedway last time. Had a tough spot here two back and finished with pace and was a game second here three back. 4-year-old was in Open Company at Northfield prior to shipping to Yonkers and should go well at this level. (5) Rockndream doesn't win often but has had tough uncovered trips in all recent starts and tonight could be the night for 25% barn.
