Harrington, DE--North State Street Stable’s Monochromatic ($3.40, Victor Kirby) prevailed for the 10th time in 2013 Tuesday with a 1:52 win in the featured $20,000 Mares Open at Harrington Raceway.
The near track record-setting performance started with a blistering opening quarter of 26.3 which saw Monochromatic assuming command from early leader Lorrie Please. Monochromatic then strolled through fractions of 54.3 and 1:23.2 before a stirring stretch duel with Lorrie Please that ended in a tight photo finish. The photo would reveal a narrow margin of victory for Monochromatic and trainer Dylan Davis. Cooking The Books finished third.
The track record for older pacing mares was set in 2008 by Ladyfield (1:51.4).
Drivers Frank Milby and Jon Roberts each had driving doubles.
