Lexington, KY --- The annual fundraiser for Floral Hall, the Round Barn located adjacent to The Red Mile, will take place on Sunday morning (Oct. 6), the day of the Kentucky Futurity at The Red Mile.
The event is open to the public and admission is free. The Floral Hall fundraiser will begin at 10 a.m. with coffee and donuts and a silent auction. A live auction will begin at approximately 11 a.m. Post time for the races is 1 p.m.
This year’s auction will include a variety of items in a silent auction, plus nine rare Currier & Ives lithographs in the live auction. Among the Currier & Ives pieces are originals of Dexter (1865), Little Brown Jug (1882) and Lula (1876).
All proceeds will be used to preserve and maintain Floral Hall, which is also known as the Standardbred Stable of Memories. During the past decade funds have been raised to pay for the more than $250,000 in repairs required to keep Floral Hall structurally sound and well maintained. Just last year the building’s original wooden support beams had to be replaced by steel beams.
A complete list of auction items will be made available in late September.
