Balmoral Park Pick-4, Races 7-10, Sunday, August 25, 2013
$1 play: 1,5/6,8,9/2/3,5,6,7,9 = $30
Race 7: (1) Triggerhappy Hero had speed on both ends of quick mile last time. Draws the rail and may be able to control small field. (5) Come On Jojo had a tough spot last time, paced a :55.2 middle half and finished evenly although never a threat. Sophomore had been racing in sharp form prior and looks capable of rebounding here.
Race 8: (6) Park Lane Heather finished with strong pace rallying for show against faster. Drops and although unable to win at this level has put in some solid tries and could be live at a price. Both (8) Rev Me Up and (9) Whistle Pig were over matched in latest. The former was used a bit to get the top, carved out a lively clip and bottomed out past a 1:23.2 three quarters. Drops to better level and has plenty of back class. The latter had some late pace finishing with :27.4 final quarter in same race as the 8. Strong finishing mare had been tailing off since a solid early part of 2013 but has been looking better in recent weeks, mainly against lesser, and may be getting her confidence level back.
Race 9: (2) Boxed Chocolates gamely held on to break maiden in wire to wire fashion last time after chasing stakes fillies in all her prior starts, one in The Hanover Stakes here and the others at The Meadowlands in New Jersey Sire Stakes events. Youngster appears to have the most ability of any in here and can continue to move forward.
Race 10: I've been trying to hit with (6) Arch Villain for a while now but she hasn't been the same since that huge effort of early June. He was dull in his latest after a tough uncovered try two back and now drops to his lowest level in a long while. (9) Wolfies Sportster sharp 4-year-old took a lifetime mark two back then was able to avoid trouble past three quarters and finished strongly from far back. (3) Ive Got The Key & (5) Inflation Hanover were both in good striking position last time, the 5 in the pocket and the former following cover turning for home when the uncovered challenger appeared to hit wheels with the the pocket sitter causing a chain reaction and knocking both off stride. Both could be handfuls here. (7) Larry's Place been razor sharp at this level in recent and can't be dismissed.
