Columbus, OH --- The track at Scioto Downs Racino has been on fire the first half of the 2013 racing season. Four track records have either been made or tied already, and the heat of summer hasn’t quite hit and stuck around at the Columbus oval.

Betterluvnexttime and Ronnie Wrenn Jr. tie Scioto track record on Friday
Friday evening Betterluvnexttime equaled the track record she set on May 17 of 1:51.2. Trainer Virgil Morgan Jr. then took over training duties and shipped her off the Meadows and Hoosier Park before bringing her back to Scioto last week. In that race, a Fillies and Mares Open, like the one she raced in Friday, she finished second by one-half length to Perfect M Forever, in 1:53.2.

This week she started from the eight hole and driver Ronnie Wrenn, Jr., who drove her in her previous track record mile, took her to the back of the pack. Making a three-wide move at the three-quarter pole she swooped the field, going from sixth to first by the time they hit the top of the stretch.

The second betting favorite in the field, Princess Cruiser (Kyle Ater), finished second while She’s Shocking (Kayne Kauffman) got up for third.

Betterluvnexttime is by American Ideal out of the Walton Hanover mare Darriwillian Girl. Daniel Mitchell of Novi, Mich. owns the mare, who has made $280,315, lifetime.
