The New England Amateur Harness Drivers Club will make its 2013 debut this coming Thursday (April 25) at Plainridge Racecourse, and President Billy Abdelnour has announced that the first charity to benefit this season will be the One Boston Fund.
Established to assist those individuals impacted by the Patriot's Day Bombings at the Boston Marathon, One Boston faces a daunting task, and the NEAHDC is taking the lead at Plainridge to raise money for the fund.
"We consider our club to be part of the Greater Boston community," said Abdelnour, "and we are both proud and humbed to assist in any way with the mission of One Boston."
Follwing the amateur club's lead Mike Perpall, President of the Harness Horsemen's Association of New England, along with Steve O'Toole, the General Manager of Plainridge Racecourse, have each agreed that their respective organizations will match the NEAHDC contribution.
2013 will be the twelfth consecutive season that the New England Amateur Harness Drivers Club has competed at Plainridge Racecourse. The club's season opening dash has been carded as the third race on the Thursday card, which goes to post at 4:00 p.m.
