Northfield, OH --- I Ota Win was an upset winner in Northfield Park’s fourth race on Monday (March 4). Jason Thompson capably piloted the gelding for owner Tammy Keegan and trainer Richard Zelanak.
I Ota Win (On The Road Again-Ooh Deer Lobel-Big Towner) followed live cover before taking the lead approaching the top of the stretch and eventually holding a three-quarter length margin of victory, stopping the timer at 1:59.4. Monday’s triumph increased I Ota Win’s lifetime wins tally to 11 and his career earnings to $24,718.
Longshots covered the board as I Ota Win (30-1) was followed across the wire by Here Comes Cruiser (12-1), Yankeedoodledandee (6-1) and Gerries Beach (30-1).
I Ota Win returned $63.80 to win, the 4-8 exacta paid $793.40, a 4-8-2 trifecta returned $14,928.10 ($1.00 price) and the 4-8-2-7 10 cent superfecta paid $2,300.15.
Art’s Shadow scores third straight victory
Art’s Shadow paced home for his third straight win Monday in Northfield Park’s 11th race. The 6-year-old is owned by Kari Gibbs and is trained by Aaron Hamilton. Tyler Smith has driven the gelding for his two most recent scores and Aaron Merriman was the driver who started the three-race win streak.
Art’s Shadow sat the pocket through fractions of :27.3, :55.4 and 1:25.2 before diving into the passing lane and stopping the clock in 1:54.2. He finished a quarter-length in front of his closest competitor, Playitagainstan.
Monday’s 1:54.2 triumph increased Art’s Shadow’s (Artsplace-Shanaia Hanover-The Panderosa) lifetime wins tally to 19 and his career earnings to $141,702.
Art’s Shadow was heavily favored and returned $3.60 to win.
