East Rutherford, NJ --- Coming into the Final of the Junior Trendsetter, two horses were looking to continue their road to a potential start in The Meadowlands Pace. With the teletimer reading 1:51.3, those two horses did just that.
Resistance Futile parlayed a perfect second-over trip into a series sweep as the overwhelming favorite for trainer Robert Siegelman with Andy Miller at the lines. But the road to victory wasn’t easy as a stubborn Axiom Hanover, making just his third lifetime start fought him tenaciously through the stretch to a very strong runner-up finish. Both horses are nominated to The Meadowlands Pace.
The Aquarius Series got underway and it featured some big names from last year’s 3-year-old pacing crop. Warrawee Needy, making his first start as a 4-year-old rolled to a 1:50 victory with Mark Macdonald, defeating another sharp three year old from 2012, Escape The News. Warrawee Needy is one of a stellar cast nominated to the Meadowlands Free For All Championship Series.

Coming into this week, Rene Allard was just 5 for 68 on the meet, but Saturday was a different story. Teamed up with his brother/driver Simon Allard, the stable sent out three winners on the 13 race program.
In wagering news, it was another sensational night at the Meadowlands. The total handle of $3,614,298 was an increase of $706,187 or 24% from the same day in 2012.
