Jim Morrill, Jr. opens Buffalo campaign with 7 wins
Saturday, March 2, 2013 - by Jon Cramer for Buffalo Raceway

Hamburg, NY --- Driver Jim Morrill, Jr. began his 2013 campaign at Buffalo Raceway Friday (March 1) by winning 7 on the 13 race card.  After having to wait an additional 48 hours due to Wednesday’s cancellation Morrill had no trouble finding his way to the winner’s circle by taking the early double aboard His Albien (Race 1) and Ranger Gus (Race 2).

In the middle portion of the card Morrill strung together a 3-bagger winning Races 5 (Redford Hall), 6 (JA’s Charmer), and 7 (Cannae Barron).

Morrill closed out the evening by taking Race 11 on Eternal Revenue and the finale with Make Me Late.

The successful debut continued in the $11,000 Open Trot.  Ziegfeld, making his first start of 2013 for trainer Gerry Sarama, used a great stretch drive to get over the finish line first in 1:58.2.  Driver Dave McNeight III pulled the gelding 3-wide as they approached the top of the stretch and pulled away to a 3-1/2 length victory over Talladega Hanover and Joey Chestnut.

It was the 13th lifetime win for the 5-year-old gelding owned by J M L Stables.

Racing will resume on Saturday March 2, with first post scheduled for 6:40 pm eastern time.
