Selections for Saturday night (2/16) - The USTA $100k World Harness Handicapping Championship FREE Qualifier at Buffalo Raceway:
First Race
1 Rose Run Kurt (6-1) He has only one start back from a long layoff from October. He minded his manners in the latest qualifier for his new connections and closed in a brisk 29.3. He picks up John Cummings Jr. tonight, who is having a very good meet and can school a precarious trotter.
Alternate selection: 3 Nanticoke Snazz
Second Race
1 Yukons Luck (5-2) This one has the perfect recipe; dropping in class and moving inside. The switch from Noble to Fisher here is irrelevant. I don’t see this one getting headed.
Alternate selection: 2 Town Attack
Third Race
1 Redford Hall (3-1) He moves back into a claimer from a condition race where he fared well. Since shipping here he’s drawn super and raced competitively, he just hasn’t been able to get across. I think that changes tonight.
Alternate selection: 7 Answer The Bell
Fourth Race
8 G Five (5-1) I normally don’t like betting the 8 hole at Buffalo but there is absolutely no inside speed in this race and Noble will take advantage of that. This horse is tough on the front end and he should get his way in here.
Alternate selection: 1 Majestic Splash
Fifth Race
5 Cannae Barron (3-1) This horse has been money since entering the Mungillo Stable. Since coming to Buffalo he has chalked up two wins and has not missed a check. Paquet has driven him before so that change should not matter. The 1:56.2 mile two starts ago was an eye opener.
Alternate selection: 2 Naked News
Sixth Race
2 Every Girls Desire (5-1) This gelding has changed hands twice in the last two starts and ends up where he started. Now he’s in a condition so his current connections want to insure it stays that way. He was 28 out of 43 in the money last year and is picking up where he left off. He will be dangerous from inside.
Alternate selection: 1 Fantasypan
Seventh Race
2 Denver Dolly (7-2) This Maine invader makes his debut tonight after being off since last August. Gray will not throw one in the box if they are not ready to roll, so I will assume this one is. The last half and quarter of his qualifier is a preview of things to come.
Alternate Selection: 8 Milliondollardesign
Eighth Race
7 Cam Patch (3-1) You need only look at this horses current form to realize you can’t bet against him.
Alternate Selection: 8 Dontgetinskyway
Ninth Race
1 Kingsandqueens (9-2) Once again the recipe for success; draw inside and drop down a class. It was hard to overlook that combination earlier and the same applies here.
Alternate Selection: 2 Keystone Reactor
Tenth Race
5 HD Santorino (9-2) Much like the fourth race, there is not a lot of early speed in here and this horse does show a sign of leaving (race on 12-13). Noble is up for the first time here and I have to believe he will try to capitalize on that fact. I look for him to go up and try to dictate the pace. Noble can really wake one up, especially when he gets behind it for the first time.
Alternate Selection: 3 April Fool
Eleventh Race
1 Catman (3-1) This horse seems to always be around the prize except when he gets parked from the outside. That won’t happen tonight and he should score his first victory of the year. This could be the best bet off the rail.
Alternate Selection: 4 Howyadoinbud
Twelfth Race
3 Political Murder (5-2) This horse went just a grueling trip last week and ground out a gritty victory by pacing strong all the way to the wire. He’s back in the same class and hasn’t missed the board there this meet. I look for him to come back tough once again.
Alternate Selection: 4 Fleeing The Scene
Thirteenth Race
4 Myyankeegirl (7-2) The night cap is a fairly soft $4,000 claimer and the first mare to the front may be the last. Myyankeegirl can fill that bill and I look for Flanigen to leave sharply. She has already equaled her win total for all of last year and just missed improving her lifetime mark three starts ago too. She looks to be the best of this bunch.
Alternate Selection: 2 Crazy Cathy
