Tim Bojarski’s WHHC Picks: Feb. 1 Mea
Thursday, January 31, 2013 - by Tim Bojarski

Selections for Friday night (2/1) - The USTA $100k World Harness Hdcp Champ. FREE Qualifier at The Meadows.

First Race

1 Beach Fighter (5-1) A has been living on the outside and not racing too bad considering. Here he takes a drop in class and draws the rail. Grismore gets the nod again so he knows what to expect. Look for this one to pop.

Alternate selection: 3 Rock N Roll Star

Second Race

1 Freedom Ridge (3-1) drops down from the winners-over where he only missed by four lengths. The last time he was in this class he scored big from the 8 hole with a strong closing quarter.  He should go coast to coast in here.

Alternate selection: 2 Austin’s Jon Jon

Third Race

6 Mr. Genius (6-1) had no luck when he shuffled off to Buffalo. He made a break is a quagmire of slop and then got scorched on the outside in a 55.4 half the following week, both in a higher class than these. If he were in tonight off those two starts at Northfield, he’d probably be the morning line favorite. There’s no one to park him in here.

Alternate selection: 9 Relaxed Fit

Fourth Race

5 Y-Dat (5-1) can throw a 28 second at the start or at the end. He’s a speedy trotter that is looking for a little better trip and this drop in class should help with that. The horse that beat him last week is a notch above anything in here. This horse is 40 out of 70 in the money lifetime and is always around the prize when spotted right.

Alternate selection: 3 SJ’S Superstar

Fifth Race

5 Hayden Abbe N (5-2) has no gate speed but will benefit from the pace that AK’s Living Large should provide. He’s already pacing as well as he did all last year and hasn’t been off the board. It’s odd that his win came after he moved up in class.

Alternate selection: 4 Stillwater Cove

Sixth Race

7 Charles Ray (5-1) has been only a fringe player but has shown some better times than the rest of this field. Since there is no real solid bet in here, I am inclined to go with the driver change to Miller and a strong front end effort last week.  Expect to see the same type of drive here.

Alternate selection: 5 Catching Katie

Seventh Race

9 Pro Prospect (6-1) has been one of the best in this class for a couple of months now. Even after getting parked last week, he was only beaten 2 lengths. His $9,453 in earnings over the last 5 starts is by far the best of this group.

Alternate Selection: 2 Fortunes Jenna

Eighth Race

6 Rio Sweet (5-2) is red hot and has won at this level just a couple weeks back. This veteran is on his game right now and looks to be a solid bet today.

Alternate Selection: Waterloo Willie

Ninth Race

6 Wizkey Road (6-1) has had a couple off tracks and a few less than stellar trips to deal with recently. He picks up Miller today who can shake one up, and that alone could be the difference. This is a wide open race where just about anyone could hit the board. So I am putting my money on Miller.

Alternate Selection: 3 Power Share

Tenth Race

7 RT Sun Poco (5-2) has been competing in the upper echelon of female trotters and should find this drop much to her liking, just like the last two times she won. She took a lifetime mark her first start of the year and today you will watch her put a circle around them.

Alternate Selection: 6 Itsghostlyoutside

Eleventh Race

4 PJ Count On Luck (3-1) ran out of it last start after three consecutive wins. The step up in class didn’t hurt but the trip did. Miller will make every move count here to get him back in the winner’s circle.

Alternate Selection: 6 Radar Warning

Twelfth Race

2 Secret’s Out (4-1) has been in this class since shipping in the first of the year. Although his performances have been unpredictable, he did pace a final half in 56.2 twice. That’s going to be tough to beat in here.

Alternate Selection: 3 Incredible Dragon

Thirteenth Race

4 Canouan (6-1) just missed in his first start for his new connections. I reference his start on 12-17 for evidence he is the bet in here. After three outside posts he is back in striking position and he will be tough to beat from there.

Alternate Selection: 1 Trou Normand

Fourteenth Race

4 NF Class Act (8-5) has not raced since May of 2011. After three qualifiers he threw a monster mile in only his third lifetime start. If he repeats that effort, this field will be hard pressed to beat him today.

Alternate Selection: 6 Its A Deal

Fifteenth Race

4 Definer (3-1) made his return to the track last week after a five month sabbatical. Based on his performance, the rest did him a world of good. He was rated easily and responded in kind. This week should find him tight and ready to roll. I would expect to see him on the front end and from there he should be a winner.

Alternate Selection: Tygerlynx
