Alexachase, Mystra win mare double feature at Dover
Dover, DE --- Alexachase and Mystra were the winners of the $16,000 Mares Winners-Over pace double-feature paces at Dover Downs on Monday Jan. 28.
Fotowon photo Alexachase streaked to a 2-length win in 1:53.2 for driver Bret Brittingham.
If there is such a thing as horses for courses, Mystra is back home again. After a brief rest, Foulk Stable brought Mystra back to the races last week for her seasonal debut wire-to-wire victory. This time Brad Hanners sat second from the start as Fleeting Flirt N (Ron Pierce) cut out the pace. In mid-stretch of a :27.3 final panel, Hanners found room and burst past to notch a 1:52.3 triumph. Nevermind Franco N (Corey Callahan) picked up third money.

Tired of being the bridesmaid, Tremor Hanover took matters into her own hands Monday at The Meadows when she powered to the lead and fashioned a game victory in the slop in the $22,500 Filly & Mare Not Listed Preferred/Preferred Handicap Pace. Tremor Hanover had finished second in 11 of her last 32 starts — including five of the last six — primarily with pocket trips. On Monday, Brian Zendt sent her to the front, where the 7-year-old daughter of Allamerican Native-Terrie Letsgo turned back the first-over bid of Ole Miss and the Lightning Lane challenge of Red Star Hottie. She scored in 1:54, a neck better than Red Star Hottie, while Ole Miss saved show. Aaron Johnston trains Tremor Hanover, who now boasts $373,921 in career earnings, for Charles Moses and Shawn Johnston.
