Columbus, OH --- Dan Conway, 68, a Standardbred publicist and writer from Michigan, died Jan. 17, 2013.
Mr. Conway loved Standardbred racing and had an encyclopedic knowledge of it, especially the Michigan brand. He was a publicist for Michigan Standardbred groups for many years. His stories appeared on the pages of The Horseman And Fair World and Hoof Beats and on the USTA website.
He was at the Michigan tracks regularly, including hosting many tours of the facilities for newcomers. Additionally, he taught handicapping classes.
Mr. Conway also taught politics at Schoolcraft College in Livonia, Michigan.
He had many varied interests in addition to horse racing, including live blues music.
Mr. Conway is survived by his wife, Barbara; mother, Alice; siblings, James, Kathleen, Maura and Peggy; nieces and nephews, Kevin, Brian, Patrick, Bridget, Kristine, Jennifer and Annabelle; grandchildren, Elisabeth, Yeshua, Sarai and Avigayle; and stepchildren, Mandy Bayles and Scott (Ashley) Bayles.
