The WHHC tournament, which assembles handicappers from across North America at host tracks from January through early April, features $100,000 in prize money, with the final scheduled for Saturday, Apr. 13, 2013 at The Meadowlands Racetrack in East Rutherford, N.J.
David Crupi, racebook manager at the South Florida Isle property, expects an enthusiastic response for the qualifier.
“We are very excited to be a participant in this championship tournament,” Crupi stated. “Since our track introduced our new Pick-4 format with the lowest pari-mutuel takeout in North America – 10 percent -- the handicapping community has begun to take notice of the excellent racing product offered here. This contest certainly compliments our efforts further.”
The entry fee into the World Harness Handicapping Championship qualifier is $120 (cash only) of which $100 will be used for the wagering contest program. The balance of $20 will be returned in prize money to the top four finishers.
The Feb. 9 qualifying winner will earn a berth into the $100,000 Championship final, including round trip air fare and two night standard room accommodations. For more information, contact David Crupi (david.crupi@islecorp.com) at (954) 972-2000.
