Fissato wins Dover feature
Dover, DE--Fissato streaked to a 1:52 victory to take the Delaware $20,000 Male Claiming pace at Dover Downs on the meet’s first Sunday afternoon program, Jan. 6.
Mike Cole sent Fissato past race leader Racing Naked (Corey Callahan) at the three-quarters and then quickly opened up a big lead to cruise to an easy victory in the feature race. Art Brewer owns and trains Fissato, a Cambest-Sunrose Hanover gelding that won for the first time this meet. Aiden’s Artist (Allan Davis) came on to finished second with Native Art (Ross Wolfenden) the third horse.
George Dennis, who has two longshot winners Saturday hit with another big one guiding Lou Catana’s 52-1 Break Dancer to victory in a $15,000 Male Claiming pace. Rileys Luck (Tony Morgan) was second with I’m So Blue (Mike Cole) the show finisher. The win was the second of the day for driver Dennis.
In additions to Dennis’ double, Allan Davis, Corey Callahan and Tony Morgan won two races while trainer Wayne Givens conditioned two winners.
Monchromatic, last week’s winner, and Alexachase, fresh from two wins in a row head the Monday $23,000 Mares Open Handicap feature.
Monday through Thursday, starting time, 4:30 p.m. Friday is a dark day. Saturday and Sunday post time is now 1 p.m.
