Blue Porsche scores in 2011 debut

Toronto, ON--Blue Porsche, with regular pilot Trevor Ritchie, scored a comfortable 1:54 victory Tuesday night (May 31) in an overnight event at Mohawk Racetrack.

The O’Brien Award winner captured the $539,000 Valley Victory final last year for trainer Blair Burgess and owners Karin Olsson Burgess, Bob Burgess and Blue Porsche Stables.

Ritchie headed for the pylons in the early going, as Classic Alana (Rick Zeron) cleared to the lead past a 27.2 opening panel. Orion King (Keith Oliver) was spotted second with Always Dreaming (Jonathan Drury) getting away in the top three.

Classic Alana used a 29.4 second-quarter breather to lead past the half in 57.1. Heading into the far turn, Always Dreaming angled to the outside and began the first-over attack with Zorgwijk Jock (Sylvain Filion) tracking her.

Blue Porsche was positioned third-over around the final turn, five lengths off the lead, as Classic Alana posted a 1:26.1 third quarter split.

Turning for home, Ritchie showed Blue Porsche clear racetrack and the son of Glidemaster-Machita did not disappoint as he coasted to his sixth lifetime victory.

Blue Porsche now has career earnings of $417,661. He remains eligible to the Goodtimes Trot which begins a week from Saturday.
