USTA District 9 meets

Plainville, MA --- The annual membership meeting of USTA District 9, comprising the New England states, was held on Saturday, Nov. 13, at Plainridge Racecourse in Plainville, Mass.

Approximately 70 members and directors Don Marean, Paul Fontaine, Bill Faucher and Ed Callahan were in attendance. Rule change proposals were dicussed and voted on.

Resuts of a membership election for the district were announced. Dr. Timothy Powers was elected to the spot currently held by Bill Faucher. Dr. Powers, of Pittsfield, Maine is a Standardbred owner and racehorse veterinarian, serving Standardbreds almost exclusively. He is a graduate of the University of Maine and Cornell University Veterinary School.

Dinner was served after the meeting, with awards presented to the top three point getters in the New England Harness Drivers Association, as well as awards for top performers at Plainridge Racecourse, top sire stakes performers and awards from the Standardbred Owners Association of Massachusetts.
