Melrose Park, IL --- One of Maywood Park’s signature events, the $100,000 Filly Maywood Pace, highlight’s Friday’s (June 18) 14-race program. Also on tap is a $10,000 Maywood Pace elimination. The $100,000 final of that stake will be contested on Friday, June 25.

Friday’s Filly Maywood Pace has been carded as the 11th race on the card and it figures to be a hotly contested affair from start to finish.

Cotton Candy and Dave Magee took last week's Filly Maywood Pace elimination in front stepping fashion.

Leading the way in here is last week’s elimination winner Cotton Candy who has drawn post position four in the final. The Erv Miller trained daughter of Sportsmaster-Juxtaposition made every call a winning one in the elimination, holding off a late rally by stablemate Rolldownthehiway to win by a half-length in 1:55.1. The win was the third in seven lifetime starts for Cotton Candy who was unraced as a 2-year-old. Once again Dave Magee will handle the driving duties behind the bay filly who is the second choice at 2-1 on the morning line.

Baron Racing, Eugene Schick and Jean Goehlen’s Fox Valley Oracle was the 3-2 favorite in last week’s action but a tough trip wound up costing the John Butenschoen trainee who was forced to settle for a fourth place finish. This year’s Violet Stake winner was outside for the final five-eighths of a mile in that elimination tussle and wound up flattening out a bit in the late going after being forced to move three-wide around the final turn.

The daughter of Sportsmaster-Our Golden Promise always seems to come up big when the cash is on the line though as evidenced by her $227,002 in career earnings on the strength of a 5-6-4 record in 19 lifetime starts. Dean Magee gets the call to drive the 9-5 morning line favorite who starts from post position three.

Rev Me Up received a bye into the final on a money earned basis and the daughter of Park Place-Turbonium tuned up for Friday’s final with an impressive score in 1:53.2 at Balmoral Park over older conditioned rivals. The Kathy Millman trainee captured an ISOBA Stake at Balmoral earlier this season and is the leading money earner in 2010 among this group with over $93,000 on her card thanks to six wins, five seconds and one third in 15 starts. Mike Oosting will drive and Rev Me Up will start from post position five.

Rounding out the field for the Filly Maywood Pace are Rolldownthehiway, Fox Valley Dazzle, She’s Aware, Makena Cat and Ellamakailey.

Maywood Pace on tap as well

Sophomore pacing colts will also be in action on Friday night as a field of eight meet in a $10,000 Maywood Pace elimination.

The top five finishers will join Delco Willobee, Fox Valley Escort and Southern Sport, who earned byes into next Friday’s (June 25) $100,000 final on a money earned basis.

Carded as the second race on Friday night this battle features JHS, who boasts a victory in 1:51.3 at Balmoral Park earlier this season; Indescribable, an ISOBA Stakes winner this year; and Voomerang, a winner of more than $81,000 during his freshman season.
