Final sustaining payment for Hoosier Cup due Monday
Anderson, IN --- The final sustaining payment for the 2010 $500,000 (est.) Hoosier Cup, held at Hoosier Park Racing & Casino on Saturday, May 29, is due Monday, Feb. 15. All payments for the event should be sent to the Hambletonian Society, Inc.
The 14th edition of the Hoosier Cup will move into a new format beginning in 2010. Only one race will be conducted for the entire purse. The top 12 entrants ranked by purse earnings will be accepted into the race. No elimination heats will be conducted, doing away with the multiple race system that has been instituted in the past.
The final sustaining payment of $600 is due Monday, Feb. 15, to determine the final nomination list for this year’s Hoosier Cup. Also, the deadline for a supplemental nomination fee of $4,000 for 3-year-olds that have not previously paid fees into the Hoosier Cup is due Monday.
The Hoosier Cup is one of three major stakes on the 2010 schedule at Hoosier Park Racing & Casino. Other major stakes include the $200,000 Dan Patch Invitational on Saturday, June 26, and Hoosier Champions Saturday, July 10, featuring Indiana Sires Stakes finals and purse money in excess of $1 million.
-- Tammy KnoxDSBF 3-year-old payments due
Dover, DE --- All 3-year-old payments for the Delaware Standardbred Breeders Fund must be postmarked by Feb. 15. The amount due is $300. This represents a change from previous years.
The 2-year-old payments of $100 are due March 15.
-- Judy Davis-WilsonBalmoral and Maywood delay stakes payments
Crete, IL --- Balmoral Park and Maywood Park have announced that all Feb. 15 stake nominations have been moved back one month and will now be due on March 15. The stakes affected will include all aged stake events and both track's 3-year-old events for both open and Illinois conceived and foaled pacers and trotters.
The main reason for the delay in nominations is both tracks hope that a resolution will be reached regarding the impact fee monies currently being held by the courts. A hearing on the matter is scheduled for Feb. 23 and with a favorable outcome the tracks hope is to set the added money at traditional levels. A later decision would have the same effect but the hope of the tracks is that nominators will know with certainty prior to having to make their nominating decisions.
The stakes affected by the delay include the American-National aged stakes for both trotters and pacers, the American-National 3-year-old events for both breeds and gaits, the Windy City Pace, the Galt Stake, all Hanover Stakes for 3-year-olds, the Maywood Pace and Filly Maywood Pace as well as all of the 3-year-old events scheduled for Super Night.
Regardless of the decision of the courts, stake payments will be due for all aged, 3-year-old and 2-year-old stakes on March 15.
