East Rutherford, NJ --- Trainer Ervin Miller picked up victories in both of the $25,000 divisions in the second round of the Four Leaf Clover series on Saturday night (March 17) at the Meadowlands.

Western Shore was a 1:50.2 winner for George Brennan.
In the second race, first division, Western Shore ($7.60, $3.40, $3.20) brushed to the lead around the backside and held off Ewie Duncan N ($3.00, $2.40) at the wire to win by three-quarters of a length in 1:50.2. It was a length back to a late flying Atomic Ideal ($4.00) in third.

“I left and ducked in,” winning driver George Brennan said. “The pace slowed down and I moved to the lead in the wind. He went a good mile especially moving into the wind. He paced strong and has won a couple now.”

Western Shore, a 4-year-old son of Western Hanover, posted his second straight victory and increased his lifetime earnings to $117,534 for the partnership of Brittany Farms of Versailles, Kentucky, Ron Michelson of Chicago, Illinois, Ervin Miller Stable of Springfield, Illinois and Riverview Farms of North Bergen, New Jersey.

Crawdad (Andy Miller) won his division by a neck in 1:51.
In the third race, second division, Crawdad ($6.40, $3.80, $2.60) came from off the pace and nipped Real Mean Art ($4.00, $3.00) at the wire to win by a neck in 1:51. Edison Hanover ($5.40) finished 1-1/2 lengths back in third.

“He was very good tonight,” winning driver Andy Miller said. “I was third over up the back side and around the turn. I tipped him off cover around the turn and he just took off. He sprinted home real good.”

Crawdad, a 4-year-old gelded son of Art’s Conquest, scored his fifth win in his ninth start of the year for the Red Barn Stable of Morrison, Illinois.

The Four Leaf Clover Series concludes with its $121,300 final next Saturday, March 24.
