Ohio Standardbreds & Friends and some of our Michigan friends made the trip to Ridgetown, Canada to attend their Standardbred Horse Show August 22-23.

The very well run show was held under the guidance of Jennifer Graham. The show offered a variety of classes in Dressage, English, Western, Driving, Contesting and some horseless fun classes. Ohio Standardbreds Allamerican Legacy and Senator Sahbra and Michigan Standardbreds Beauclaire Bono and Dinn’s Ghost successfully competed in classes on both days of the show.

Senator Sahbra with rider/handler Paul Schiff placed second in Western Halter and placed well in all of his riding classes.  Paul and Senator presented a Racking Horse Demo and it was well received. Rumor has it that one of our Canadian friends is teaching her gelding to rack now!

Beau and handler/rider Tracey Schork won Western and English Showmanship and placed in all of their riding classes as well. They looked amazing in their Dressage as well.

Barb Snyir Voight and Ghost got second in English showmanship and also placed in all of their riding classes. Ghost was one of only two grey Standardbreds and both looked beautiful in the ring. Allamerican Legacy was first in Western and English halter, second in Showmanship, third in all his driving classes and placed in all his Western riding classes with Marcia Harmelink who flew in from Kansas to show him. He was also shown by Canadian rider Mandi Lynn Payne in the English riding classes on Sunday placing in all their classes.

The experience was certainly a positive one for horses and riders and we all look forward to returning next year. Several of our friends from Canada will be making the journey to Ohio October 16-18 for the 2015 World Standardbred Horse Show that will be held in Sunbury, Ohio in the beautiful indoor arena at Eden Park Equestrian Center.

You are invited to come and watch as the Standardbred takes front and center of the show ring! For more information contact Ohio Standardbreds & Friends via Facebook. Show information can also be found on Facebook under World Standardbred Horse Show.
