Columbus, OH --- Pureform Bunny is the first repeat winner of the American Endurance Riding Conference High Mileage Standardbred award, sponsored by the USTA.
Recognized the first time for the 2013 riding season, Pureform Bunny and her owner/rider Heather Wimer covered 385 miles for the 2014 ride season.

“I hope that we can make enough of a splash to encourage more people to give the breed a try,” said Wimer. And apparently, it is starting to work as Wimer’s friend Kandi Robins recently bought one of Pureform Bunny’s sisters -- Pureform Sydthekid, an 8-year-old mare that just retired from racing.
“Syd is progressing great under saddle,” Wimer explained. “Kandi and I are beginning to train together, and we are hoping to be able to do some endurance rides together in the future.
“If Syd is half the athlete that Bunny is, I know we will see some great things from her.”
For being recognized as the High Mileage Standardbred for 2014, Wimer and Pureform Bunny received a leather halter with attached nameplate and lead chain. The duo was also recognized by the AERC which gives regional awards for the different weight divisions with Wimer and Pureform Bunny finishing fourth in middle weights for the Northwest region.
The AERC High Mileage Standardbred award is given to the Standardbred that has the most miles ridden during the riding season (Dec. 1 through Nov. 30). All rides are considered, including the limited distance 24-35 mile rides, and standard endurance rides (50-plus miles). Riders must be a member of AERC in order to track horse and rider mileage. For more information on the AERC, visit their website at www.aerc.org.
Since 1996, the Standardbred Equine Program has worked with owners of off-the-track Standardbreds to educate the general public about the many disciplines Standardbreds excel at once they are retired from racing.
